Hi, first off I would like to say I really enjoy the program. It’s well done and easy to use.

My issue started when I updated my version of Terraria. Old world files will load fine but new ones are giving me trouble (it’s been almost a year since I played). When I go to open a new world I created, TEditor pops up with «There was an error reading the world file, do you wish to force it to load anyway». Clicking yes or no results in nothing loading. I’m running Windows 7 64bit with DirectX 11.

Below is a screenshot of the error and my log file. Please let me know if you need anything else and I will be happy to supply it.

World File Error #983

When I try to load my world, it displays this message:
There was an error reading the world file. This is usually caused by a corrupt save file or a world version newer than supported. [My world is 1.3.5]

tedit is a very nice editor, i have been using it for a long time and it worked fine until yesterday with the labor of love update i get this.

TEdit does not work #775

When you run the program TEdit, it crashes, it gives error and asks to close the program or find a solution on the Internet. Please help, I installed all the programs, I have installed directx 11. Sorry for my English.

It could be an issue with character encoding on foreign language. I’ll look into the issue, but it could take some time to correct for localization issues.

Well, I will wait for a response. TEdit I worked before reinstalling windows, but unfortunately I do not remember which version I had TEdit. And the old version (3.5) in my work, but when I choose nothing happens card, not the card is loaded. This may have to do with the temp folder for undo/redo. If your windows user name has Unicode characters, it may be the issue. Can you try creating a windows user with only us-english a-z characters, run TEdit when logged in as this user, and see if this resolves the issue?

If not it may be an issue with another folder path that contains Unicode characters.

Could you try version 3.7 and see if there is any improvement?

World loading error #457

Everytime I use tedit to edit anything on a world, it works ok while in tedit and all, I can save all fine, but when I try to open the world on terraria it fails to open. It gives me the option to load a backup and all I edited is lost.
What I edit is basically chest contents and sometimes add some statues.
I can open the world on tedit again and it’s fine, the stuff I edited is there, but terraria can’t open it.
This is with pre 1.2 and 1.2 worlds alike, so I’m not sure if it’s an issue of tedit or terraria.

Try reinstalling TEdit (remove old versions first in control panel —> programs). Try new worlds and see if just saving in TEdit without doing anything messes things up. Then try painting things. Then try chests.

If after a fresh install and wiping away old versions you have problems with it, even with new worlds, then it may be something that is making TEdit corrupt the saves (since you seem to be running TEdit fine). Looked at the Install Requirement Page?

I removed tedit (via control panel), downloaded the latest instaler, reinstalled it, redownloaded and reinstalled both required programs that are in the requirement page, created a new world, loaded it just fine, opened it on tedit, saved it, tried to open in terraria again and it failed to load. Tried twice with diferent new worlds, same results. Didn’t even try painting and editing chests.

TEdit is only compatible with Terraria 1.2.0.3.1. If you are trying to load worlds in earlier version (even 1.2 or 1.2.0.3) it will not work as the world format changed between all of those versions.

I updated terraria and it’s working like a charm! Thanks, I didn’t even know there was an update for terraria, that was the problem.

It could be an issue with character encoding on foreign language. I’ll look into the issue, but it could take some time to correct for localization issues.
