I looked under dataColorTable and found a bunch of ICC files. In another forum post, someone said that the ICM files for the GL552VW are included with the PC as shipped (bloatware-laden). I reinstalled Windows 10 and then tried to install Splendid and am of course getting the error above.

Has anyone come up with a solution for this? Do I just need the ICM files from someone who didn’t reload their laptop? If so,. would someone be kind so as to post those?

You need to use a older version as your model is not supported if it says that. Had the same issue with the G74SX, see the following for more info, the ICM files are there if you compare it to what’s used by the older splendid version that works, the installer just doesn’t support your model as ASUS only supports the Windows version that shipped with the computer…

Ya, easy to correct once windows-10 places all the registry keys correctly, but i now found looking on my older AMD systems that i upgraded, no problems found that

There seems to be some kind of windows-10 conflict happening and Catalyst picks up on a built-in win10 3rd party display control app. I kept it uninstalled and after finding out that i left it uninstalled.

My older system are old, 6xxxx series and below system with almost no driver support on some of them, all AMD of course, probably switching, but anyways

Been a AMD customer since 2003-2004, all system OK and running perfectly.

NVidia probably wont conflict, dont know, but i do know after the first full system reset (keep nothing) Splendid ends up working as intended and its seamless like i saw in win 8.1

Could be Windows ends up seeing it in the registry and loading it disabling what ever display control it is using, but if anyone has insight on that would be great.

Cant wait until win10 is a finished polished product and people get around to knowing all the little things. This was my only problem in Win10 brand new X-series laptop that now failed the manufactures tests, but i highly doubt Splendid had anything to do with it.

Should be fine, i loved Splendid when i really saw it , but on my system it was way to much hassel to get to run properly, but it did run, it did load, any error vanished, but getting there took about 2-3hrs.

Windows 10: Asus splendid issue

Discus and support Asus splendid issue in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; I have two Asus laptops one the main home one (ROG version) and this small travel one both running 10 (ROG) and a dual boot 10 on the smaller machine ….

  1. Asus splendid issue

I have two Asus laptops one the main home one (ROG version) and this small travel one both running 10 (ROG) and a dual boot 10 on the smaller machine .

Now I found quite by accident the Asus Splendid utility and it has installed on the ROG and is brilliant as the GUI is so simple and yet I cannot get it to install on this small laptop see pic for error.

Any ideas please as I know it has something to do with colour matching but hwy the ROG and not this smaller machine??

    :)

  2. splendid does not support current screen settings

Yes, it is able to be fixed. Here is what worked for me.

    1) Go to Latest ASUS drivers for Windows 10 — Official links — Ivan Ridao Freitas and download the latest Splendid utility update from the link there. (ver. 3.19.0004 as of 2017/04/05)

    2) Go to the ASUS support site, enter your model and download the splendid utility from there too.

    3) From the ASUS support file, extract the ICM files for your laptop in the
    /data/ColorTable/
    folder into «C:Program Files (x86)ASUSSplendidicm»

    4) Extract and install the Splendid update from ivanrf.com

  4. Asus splendid issue

This about all I can find that’s relevant …. I’m sure you’ve seen it though. It says to me that it probably won’t work unless it was pre-installed . MSI has something almost exactly like it.

‘It is usually licensed for use only on the ASUS PC on which it was pre-installed.»

«An ICM file for the current display can be selected in Windows by opening the Display Control Panel and selecting «Display Properties.» Then click Settings→Advanced Properties→Color Management.» That’s from an older thing I found , maybe it will help. Maybe a system file check since it may be a Windows thing?

  5. Yep indie I saw all that nonsense and the machine I was trying tio install it on was a downgrade from 8.1 to 7 when I bought it so thought as it was originally an 8 then it would just do it.

I have the machine now in dual 10/7 boot but anyway I am not going to bother — a shame really because the ROG machine is so simply adjusted to one’s own preferences.

I guess it is the same old same old this will work with this as long this had that etc etc ad nauesum ad infinitum

Personally I get sick of this nonsense and for another example I bought a Google Pixel phone over the new (then) Samsung S7 — and yes you might be thinking what I am going to say — it cannot be used on a Windows machine unless (if I am not terribly mistaken) one uses Googles drive etc to download pics etc etc bloody etc

Am going into my providers shop at the earliest opportunity to give them a real razz up because on top of that the Samsung Tab A that came in the bundle supposedly able to be used as a wifi hot spot using a USB tether doesn’t work either. If I didn’t owe so much money for the Pixel I would gladly trade it in for another Samsung because it also has no external memory card!!

All in all pretty fed up with tech stuff at the moment. The only thing that is going right at the moment for me is Windows 10!!

End of rant*Mad But thanks for the input mate I did appreciate it as it really confirmed a half suspicion of mine.

  6. Thanks for pointing this out. I’m thinking of getting one and it wouldn’t even have crossed my mind it wouldn’t work.

Not sure if you saw this btw. Perhaps it may help.Windows 10 PC not detecting Pixel C at all : GooglePixelC

  7. No mate I didn’t see that site — I had got tired of seeing so many anyway.

Now don’t get me wrong it is a top phone very fast charge, long lasting battery — typically mine stays charged to half charge in 4 days the camera is no slouch front or back and has no bloat to speak off.
If you do go with the Pixel just remember there are two options the smaller Pixel and the larger Pixel XL. The main difference for me is the XL is physically larger and has more on board memory 128GB at the time I bought mine the limit for the small one was 32GB more than I will probably use but I would have preferred the larger screen.

Now because I am not terribly Android savvy maybe I have done something wrong but I have faithfully followed the Googles I have got onto but have only succeeded in locking mine and you see I am not sure whether they mean the phone itself is locked or my use of it is locked. That is why I am going to storm the Telstra shop as soon as I can.

See this anyway the differences are not much except I think this site has the memory for the small Pixel wrong Google Pixel vs. Pixel XL: Which should you buy? | Android Central

  8. Asus splendid issue

Well all bing what they are I might find out tomorrow as I am taking the phone into the Telstra shop and get the lowdown from them and also because it is more difficult to sort out settings on the Pixel not so much as setting them but more on how to reverse them which I find really very bizarre.

  9. lx07 mate clear your message bank out it is full *Wink
Anyway now I just wanted to share with you too that I found that using the security settings you can lock the Pixel phone by only letting it turn on when it recognises where it is — on you or at a safe location — your home ,and to unlock iy you just need to set up voice recognition and the fingerprint feature.
So all I need to do now is pick the phone up say «OK Google» and/or touch the back window with whatever finger you set it up with and the phone springs into life.
The issue of data from it to my computers — another issue.

ASUS Splendid Video Enhancement Technology —

  • ASUS Live Update Utility —

ASUS Splendid

ASUS Splendid

Google Play.

ASUS Splendid Video Enhancement Technology v3110001 — unable to install in Win10

I tried to install the Win10 version of ASUS Splendid Video Enhancement Technology v3110001 from http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/. VER3110001.zip but it’s not able to install, anyone knows how to fix this?

just got the same thing. any solution to this yet?

I have just bought a X-series laptop came with Win-8.1, and had major problems after upgrading to windows-10.

I have the solution.
This solution works best with Catalyst set to factory default , then uninstalled first. I noticed Splendid mess’s with catalyst and the color reactivation process. It might be a good idea to uninstall both Catalyst and Splendid at same time. Catalyst ONLY. Only uninstall catalyst, so when catalyst is re-installed it can pickup on the color scheme and recognize other software is in control.

First, i after first activation Windows-10 does things unknowing to in the background and trys to reinstall components including AV IF it can verify the software. What has happened is it has uninstalled spledid leaving everything including the sub -folders on the machine without really uninstalling it properly.

You have to RUN Command —Regedit Click My Computer, then Find Splendid. Delete all registry keys of Splendid And the sub-folder on the C: drive ,

Located in C:ASUSSPLENDID

Install first the Windows 8.1 Splendid, DO NOT REBOOT wait 5 minutes
I did not set any special compatibilty installing the 8.1 version, you hear alot about run as admin, force win8 Ect . Click it normal, windows-10 compatibility list has this added.

Immediately install the win 10 upgrade Splendid, DO NOT OPEN ANYTHING after install , before install or During install,

Try opening Splendid only after the computer isn’t working/hard drive lite cpu workload, fully logged in. Then open Splendid.

If Splendid is working, Sign-out . Very important people don’t ever sign out, but that will save settings, Reboot from sign-in screen, Enjoy your Spledid.

Hope this helps, i now have a fully-functional X-series 550 laptop running the 15.7 Catalyst and runs great and have everything installed on it , even the sound.

Is Catalyst basically a AMD/ATI Radeon video card? I have nVidia on my G74SX-3DE notebook.

I got up to the part above where the problem still exists in the Win 10 upgrade installer which stopped exactly at the same place as mentioned in the original post.

Sorry for late reply been spending all my free time looking into the AMD 15.7/suport, about that later.

To answer first question, Yes Catalyst is AMD and is what ASUS X-series ships with, mid-grade gaming laptops, that really do a nice job for those looking into alternative to NVidia, mine came with the R7 265X ( Oland ) Card , its hard to find info on this new rebranding that happened 5 months ago at AMD , anyways,

If you got stuck at installing Win-10 upgrade that means win-8.1 Splendid installed , correct ?

The ICM comes from 8.1 and all the Win-10 upgrade does is overwrite a few files that make it verify win-10.

One mistake i made with it was it downloads as a zipped file, and once i tried running Splendid from the zipped folder which will produce the same message. The file shouldnt run from zipped folders but in windows-10 they are.

Try Extracting the upgrade directy onto your desktop, USING the context menu— Right click the file, Select Extract, point to desktop.

I also noticed windows-10 is allowing copy/past of zipped files and if done this way, ISNT really extracting the file. Finding a 3rd party extraction-tool FOR windows-10 will be a bigger headache. I had a old copy of WinRAR from Win-7 trial and it installed perfectly onto windows-10. Head to WinRAR website DL a trial version OF THAT, use winrar to properly extract files in win-10 is advise, But ya thats probably the problem.

Let me know how it turns out

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

Win7 Splendid installed since on the G74SX-3DE, there is only a Win7(64 bit) version of Splendid but not a 8/8.1 version. When the Win 10 upgrade splendid installer runs, it actually removes the previous version from the system, atleast this is what happens with after that error message in the installer, splendid is not longer installed on the system. My installation is from a unzipped folder as I am running the setup.exe file which also contains a data folder. The data folder is the problem as I can replace it with the one from the Win7 version and it will install fine except the installed version will be the Win7 version. I extracted using WinRAR so I’m not running the installer from the zip file but rather from the extracted folder. Perhaps maybe I need a copy of the 8.1 version of Splendid as there may be something missing going directly from the Win7 version to the Win10 upgrade.

I see now, windows 7 old Spledid possible. Ok. Try this, Compare my Splendid to your version of spledid, and try to install MY 8.0/8.1 version onto your machine.

Anything windows-8 is win-7 compatible, no differance in win-8 except the UI changes as far as OS system goes, rest is just painted over windows-7.

Known Upgrade issues from old win-7/8 updates that MUST be removed that are known to prevent applications from installing properly found here.

Bah, i thought i had a quick link to the information about which ones to unistall, but i couldnt find it. Microsoft posted a list of updates that were supposed to be uninstalled before the upgrade happened, you may want to try finding that info, IF you havnt done a Full-Reset, delete Everything Kepp Nothing type reset yet.
If you already have done a Full-Reset Keep nothing type reset, don’t worry about it

Asus is now shipping models with win-10 pre-installed so take a look for X555LE, i know for a fact it has the updated Splendid version, but mine should work/update when the win-10 version is applied.

To add some info i have now later had my experience with the new AMD driver sets can confirm that if the display drivers arn’t working splendid will send a message about » Spledid can not open in this resolution» immediatly recognized my video driver install and worked. You Nvidia i think and there drivers are different and your problem could be a actual win-10 video driver problem preventing splendid from working. Me now knowing this would WANT splendid to at least work as intended before deciding on removing it/ not using it. Thats just My2Cents.

Link to latest news, click anyone of these models from ROG news feed, i checked they these will be NVidia models lineup, the AMD models havnt shipped with win-10 yet.
Your going to want these models driver-support for windows-8 and look through the utilites for them.

Side Note: Since i mentioned previous win-7 updates corrupttion , Before trying to reinstall spledid or anything else its a good idea to check/scan/cleanup/restrore the Component store to make sure everything that is/isnt supposed to be there is installed properly.

Not going into how windows failed to mention that updates sometimes dont install correclty/register tothe system properly, there are other commands for that but this is what your gonna want to do

Open CommandPrompt as Adminstrator. Run as Administrator.

Press enter after each of these commands, and make sure your not connected to the internet and have all security software turned OFF

Run these commands in the order listed, dont run one before the other

Dism / Online / Cleanup-Image / ScanHealth
wait for completion

Dism / Online / Cleanup-Image / CheckHealth
Wait for completion

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
wait for completion

Thanks for your input as usual. Anyways, I tried your version which is 3.02.0001 while my installed version is 1.02.0040. The Win10 upgrade version is 3.11.0001. When I tried to run the setup.exe as admin over the 1.02.0040, 3.02.0001 told me that I need to uninstall the older version first and then exited so I uninstalled 1.02.0040 and when I ran 3.02.0001 this time around, it came up with a similar error:

From what I can tell, the problem has to do with dataColorTable folder.

All the files with the exception of the 5 *.acf files in 1.02.0040 exists in 3.11.0001 with identical file sizes and date/timestamps. I even tried to add the 5 *.acf files to 3.11.0001 with the same results of the installer aborting because the .icm files are missing.

The only reason I am trying the Windows 10 upgrade of Splendid is because when one goes to the G74SX support page, it actually doesn’t mention the upgrade as this is what it says:

So perhaps the upgrade just doesn’t support the G74SX-3DE or G74SX in general.

So for all I know, perhaps some models of older notebooks are not supported by the Splendid 3.11.0001 upgrade. I’m not sure how to test the Vivid function except inside of Splendid, when vivid is chosen, the colors are more bright. This is what the current installed 1.02.0040 looks like:

ASUS Splendid Video Enhancement Technology

LCD Splendid:

Video Splendid:

ASUS Splendid Video Enhancement Technology

ICM files for Splendid on GL552VW? (‘Could not find ICM file’ error)

Unable to install ASUS Splendid Video Enhancement Technology (error number: Could not find ICM file, installer will be cancelled.)

Had the same issue with the G74SX, see the following for more info, the ICM files are there if you compare it to what’s used by the older splendid version that works, the installer just doesn’t support your model as ASUS only supports the Windows version that shipped with the computer.

Unable to install asus splendid

I tried to install the Win10 version of ASUS Splendid Video Enhancement Technology v3110001 from http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Apps_for_Win10/Splendid/Splendid_Win10_64_VER3110001.zip but it’s not able to install, anyone knows how to fix this?

Immediately install the win 10 upgrade Splendid, DO NOT OPEN ANYTHING after install , before install or During install,

If you already have done a Full-Reset Keep nothing type reset, don’t worry about it 😉

In 1.02.0040:
51435

In 3.02.0001:
51436

In 3.11.0001:
51437
51438
51439
51440
51441
51442

All the files with the exception of the 5 *.acf files in 1.02.0040 exists in 3.11.0001 with identical file sizes and date/timestamps. I even tried to add the 5 *.acf files to 3.11.0001 with the same results of the installer aborting because the .icm files are missing.

The only reason I am trying the Windows 10 upgrade of Splendid is because when one goes to the G74SX support page, it actually doesn’t mention the upgrade as this is what it says:
https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1013143/

So perhaps the upgrade just doesn’t support the G74SX-3DE or G74SX in general.

However, when one goes here:
http://www.asus.com/event/2015/osupgrade/upgrade.html#ap-driver

So for all I know, perhaps some models of older notebooks are not supported by the Splendid 3.11.0001 upgrade. I’m not sure how to test the Vivid function except inside of Splendid, when vivid is chosen, the colors are more bright. This is what the current installed 1.02.0040 looks like:

I had a hard enough time finding 3.11.0001 as someone on another thread I started pointed me to the location of the download. Unless there is a newer version available. It seems all of the builds are basically the following directory structure:
Main Directory has only setup.exe
Data subdirectory has 409.msi and a ColorTable subdirectory. If the problem is not in the ColorTable subdirectory, it’s most likely in the 409.msi file.

You have the G74SX , its a nicer laptop then mine, but i belive it to be that NVida driver bug there having currently, im sure soon as a GOOD update from NVidia happens the problem will clear up,

Ive tested Spledid W/O a videa driver and it will not open/function without a detected Vid Card that suports it. I possible phone call to the ASUS help desk to ask about Splendid not working on NVidia machines on windows-10 should have the answer

I have the X550-DB10 Gaming classed AMD laptop, and they arnt ROG official, there the lower tiered gaming laptops available, AMD released a huge update ast week and thats when my Splendid problem cleared up, ive only had this this laptop 2weeks and new to ASUS, so ive had my hands full.

I just had a thought ,

Have you tried to run the installer W/O Driver Signing active, HOLD—SHFT+click restart to take you to UEFI/Safe mode OPTIONS, select Turn Driver Signing OFF

Install the Spledid Driver

Just figured you had driving signing off when trying to force/ troubleshoot the problem.

DISABLE Secure Boot, in UEIF/ formly bios,

Your UEFI is different and will be on every system, Nvidia UEFI, im really new to UEFI’s and if thats a know bug that will permently crash your system, you will have to check nividia based forums and see if that is a known problematic MainBoard UEFI

Something else accorded to me too, being a upgraded version of win-10, most people dont think to check and make sure FrameWork.Net 3.0+ is installed, Windows-10 turn this off by default, even on a upgrad. I know this i upgraded from win8.1 and check the Features Settings located in the uninstal menu Programs and Features located on the left menu pane.

Spledid and a lot of other programs still depend on the older frame works, FrameWork 4.5 is pre-installed, but being a gamer we all know it still takes Framework 2.0-3.5 to run the games properly, that and all the DirectX’s, gonna need those too.

I have a manufacture tool from my old Dell days they gave me for problem solving, and it auto-locates framework for me, along with flash, java, directX,, Visual Basic 2005-2015,

Be sure to get all the VisualBasicsC++ i dont care what Microsoft says, they left a few things out.

The G74SX might be nicer but it’s still a Windows 7 platform machine which reached end of life when the G75 replaced it running Windows 8.x so it’s basically non-supported by ASUS for anything other than Windows 7. You might be right that the nVidia driver might have bugs as I have nVidia GeForce Experience installed and I think as of yesterday, it had already had 3 different drivers. As was mentioned before, this machine is not supported by ASUS for anything other than Windows 7 so they will just not answer the question about support for Windows 10 and Splendid as others had problems with Windows 10 and ASUS told them to downgrade back to Windows 8.x on the G75 series. I wished there was a way to submit bug reports to ASUS so that they can update the utility.

While your machine is not officially ROG, it is still a newer Windows 8.x machine. AMD/ATI had always had better drivers while nVidia has always been about speed but buggy as nVidia does not make their own video cards, it’s a reference design that other companies make cards using the chips which are made by Taiwan Semiconductor while AMD/ATI makes their own video cards so there is more of a quality standard.

I haven’t tried running the installer w/o the driver signing active yet, never knew how to do that since this machine has a standard AMI Bios before UEFI and Secure Boot existed as the bios doesn’t even have those options. In fact, ASUS never fixed the bios that I’m still using ThrottleStop to fix a issue when the system is at high load. So this system came out before UEFI and Secure boot existed even though UEFI boot is supposedly added as a option in bios v2.03.

Thanks for mentioning .NET Framework as for some reason, I didn’t know it would uninstall the older things I had installed without me knowing about it so I installed the .NET Framework 3.5 which includes 2.0 and 3.0. My VisualC++ is up to date and Visual Basic has both 5 and 6 installed. Actually, .NET Framework 4.6 is pre-installed on Windows 10 and for whatever reason, the Splendid 1.02 that is working, when the setup was finished, it did mention .NET Framework 3.x think it was 3.5 that is required but it worked so I thought I had 3.x installed. In any case, after installing .NET Framework, Visual C++ and Visual Basic, the installer still failed to complete at the same location. As the installer is actually the 409.msi file in the data folder, hopefully there is a way to log the installer to find out exactly what is causing the problem. I actually went into Programs and Features on Windows 10 and turned on every single feature listed before rebooting and proceeding with the install.

There is a log for it,

Start Menu Search Box Event Log

Select Applications
Second catagory listed has 4 items in it.

Anything with a big Red Circle exclamation point will show error double click on it , click details, send in info to Asus.

For laptops, Mobole Devices, SLI and Crossfire/Hybrid Crossfire applications its a good idea to turn OFF ULPS (Ultra Low Power State)

Thats should fix any stability issues and card/Cpu throttling stuck issues.

ULPS is something microsoft came out that absultly destroyed Crossfire and is known to cuase more problems than it fixed.

RegEdit . Search. ULPS.

Set (0) for each one you find, reboot/Shut down to take the system out of being stuck, removing the card on laptops is almost impossible un-needed.

Adding this just in case you already read the last post.

You need to see if all drivers are ok and installed propery and will need to run this command from the RUN command

StartMenu. Search. Type RUN.

In the RUN box type : Sigverif.exe

Run the built in tool, and look at the log after its done, scrool down post anything that is flagged in the tool.

This is a not a driver signing tool, its just gonna check to see what isn’t signed / or errors found.

I actually don’t have a search box in the Start Menu, I do have Cortana and the search box on the actual bar on the bottom of windows.

I open Event Viewer which is in Control Panel, it lists:
Event Viewer (Local)
Windows Logs
Application

which doesn’t list anything related to Splendid.

The stability issue I am talking about is not related to ULPS, it’s actually related to the Intel SandyBridge chipset which is
mentioned here that was brought up by someone that works for ASUS:

Actually, removing all parts in the system is easy as these systems are all modular and I usually take apart all systems I have bought
which is usually the high-end models from Dell, IBM/Lenovo and have replaced and swapped all sorts of internals without issues.

Just did the sigverif and it responds with your files have been verified and all files have been digitally signed.

My bad thought you had meant that it was getting stuck in high RPM fan mode. I understnad what your saying now, it is true that parts of the bios are locked out by manufacture and that internal trigger

But still, to honestly believe a 3rd party program actually fixed something to do with bios W/O dangerous bios flashing (IE) unlocking the bios unlawfully *cough*

I would lean towards THAT THE NEW windows power saving engine for mobile devices, and all that program is doing is setting a registrey key to (0)

Most RegEdits happen in what we in the Math World call (instant Calculation) basicly instantly, so.

Without DL the prog and decompiling the installer and digging around in xml i couldnt tell ya which part its turning off.

In the authors own words.

«This way whenever you start up TS, it will autodisable the setting . » «The setting will stick until your next reboot. «

If that junk fixed anything to do with bios , trust me you would know it. It would stick forever or until the system **BRICKED** Bricking term for when you playing around with something most people shouldnt then decide its ok if the machine literraly Blows Up.

In my Hummble Opionoin ,

I would rather find out what it did, then set it permently Vs. becoming someones BitCoin Miner on a BotNet Network.

If your application Event Log is Clear and no errors are logged, OR if you have error event logging disabled through 3rd Party Software, Tweak Tools ect, than your good to go but i can tell you this !

Everytime you opened Splendid and it produced a ERROR MESSAGE , it would be logged.

Think maybe it might be time to upgrade your laptop, but with a video-card.

HardCore just did a demo and actually completed the impossible. Upgrading your laptop GPU’s .

I looked for his referance and when he gets to the part in the vidoe about Parts list and shows the website adviser listing all compatible parts, i had no luck finding were he navigated too.

EuroCom is the spot, and i think you might have to put in a request with them and Re-Brand your laptop as EuroCom refurbished.

link to official FB PCWorld video

Try not to laugh to hard at the commentary, the info of how this was performed properly is in there. lol, actually EMAIL that guy. Seriously. 😉

For all those still having issue with ASUS Spledid, please download the newest version (3.13.0004). It’s tested working on Windows 10 for both 32-bit and 64-bit.

It seems to be more of a bug with the Intel Sandy Bridge chipset as I remember even a few years ago, the chipset was recalled and then there was a newer revision. In fact, ASUS even recalled all the buggy chipsets and the revised ones had a new sticker on the box but seems like there is still further problems with the chipset but what’s weird is I only saw that thread a few days ago and it seems like the problem only exist on ASUS and not other major laptop brands. The third party program and the problem was mentioned by a ASUS employee who started the thread so we have to believe it one way or another. LOL.

Didn’t realize you were a mathematician. I’m a Astrophysicist myself.

The logging would probably logged if Splendid was installed and working but we’re talking about the installer failing to install the product since there is something the installer doesn’t like and it basically undid everything the installer process did.

As for upgrading the laptops video card, might be a good idea but sooner or later, I rather get a new machine, too bad there isn’t any new ASUS models with a 3D display. On the Dell Insprion 8200, I was actually the one who figured out that it’s possible to put in 2GB max memory vs 1GB max memory and also the nVidia Quaddro Video card instead of the original nVidia GeForce as the Inspiron 8200/Latitude C840/Precision Workstation M40 all use the same motherboard except the BIOS is flashed differently so done this some 12+ years ago.

For all those still having issue with ASUS Spledid, please download the newest version (3.13.0004). It’s tested working on Windows 10 for both 32-bit and 64-bit.

Thanks Bahz for your comment.

I just downloaded and tried installing this and ran into the same problem as the original post in this thread.

For all those still having issue with ASUS Spledid, please download the newest version (3.13.0004). It’s tested working on Windows 10 for both 32-bit and 64-bit.

TY Bahz, Think people are having a problem with Splendid not recognizing peoples video drivers properly. Think it will take a manufacters download update driver package that works until Splendid will recognize it.

Just double checked my ICM, it showing my product model series as the file names.

This is what ICM shows after i got it working perfectly.

Soo looking at your ICM Folder, my next solution would be to make a copy of the 8.1 version to desktop.

Install the upgrade for your model, and drag 1-one file at a time from the desktop folder that you created until you find the one file that will allow Splendid to run on your model computer using the upgraded files.

Best i can think of man sorry, i tried. 🙁

Another idea i had was track down its 8.1 driver and when it upgrades REPLACE the win10 driver with the once was working 8.1 driver.
Now thats probably not gonna work,

So perform the upgrade still having the desktop backup-copy and

Select All Files in desktop folder

Paste to upgraded folder, after it replaces anything that was 8.1 press DELETE, this will defintly remove any 8.1 files, and that could be the problem, your Splendid isnt performing a proper cleanup after the upgraded. Hmm, no way of knowing what its not cleaning up after it trys to upgrade.

I mean just look at how tiny my ICM file list is and it only needs 15 ICM files to run.

Actually, I mentioned that earlier as you can see, all Splendid installers works like the following:
the main folder has only:
Setup.exe
data folder
data consists of 409.msi
ColorTable folder which contains all the ICM files.

Both the Windows 7 version which works and the Windows 10 version have the exact same files with identical file sizes and time/date stamps.
The only thing different is the 5 *.acf files in 1.02.0040 does not exist in the Windows 10 upgrade so I have copied it over but it doesn’t make a difference as something is making the installer abort and revert since Splendid did install completely as the Splendid icon is on the desktop and then then the error comes up and at that point, clicking on whatever the options are will just uninstall whatever it installed as the Splendid icon on the desktop disappears.

What you mentioned is actually just all the files in the ColorTable folder from both the 8.1 and the Windows 10 upgrade version being copied and has nothing really to do with the problem which I think is more related to the following:

Start Menu -> Settings -> System -> Display -> Advanced Display Settings -> Display Adapter Properties -> Color Management -> Color Management ->
All Profiles and then under ICC Profiles:

and basically what the settings are under the Advanced tab as right now it’s probably not on the correct one for the device profile which is probably why the installer gets confused as it only knows about the profiles provided by the installer, what does yours show?

As for why it needs 15 files to run, the reason for that is if you look at my post #10 above which lists the different files in the ColorTable folder of the installer on the Win7, your Win8.1 version and the Win10 upgrade, my guess is that your 8.1 installation does not use the standard icm filenames of the splendid installer so all the filenames with the model name came from the 8.1 installation which is a total of 10 files while the other files are from the upgrade itself. It doesn’t need all 15 files either as if you looked at color management, only one .icm file is used.

As for the Event log, this is what it shows as I tried it again yesterday:

This is what I mean the event log not giving enough information on what is triggering the installer to halt as unlike Unix where the log files actually are more detailed, this doesn’t really give me much information.

Some other thoughts:

It appears the actual *.icm files, the installed ones are actually located in C:WindowsSystem32spooldriverscolor which are the installed profiles.

AtlasMinor brought up something interesting because in the newer Splendid_Upgrade_Win10_VER3130004 that Bahz mentioned, the ColorTable folder under the data folder in the installer file names are different as it seems in addition to the generic names as used on the Win7 and original 3.11 Win10 upgrade, the model names are part of the file names except there is nothing for the G74SX. Image below is large so you may have to actually save the image to view it.

And guess what the file count is for ColorTable folder under the data folder in the installer which contains just the .icm files between the 3 versions:

Win7 1.02.0040 — 10 files
Win10 Upgrade 3.11.0001 — 191 files
Win10 Upgrade 3.13. 0004 — 1,244 files
