The problem is the base image I am using from resin doesn’t have systemd enabled by default, and it seems the nprobe deb depends on a functional systemd. For dockerized images, it’s kind of moot to have systemd.
It’s possible to enable systemd on resin images using ENV INITSYSTEM on however that is activated at runtime only, which means there is no way to have nprobe installed in the image ahead of time. It also requires the container to run in privileged mode, which is not desirable.
I will probably look into alternatives using the source code or whatever, as it seems using the precompiled deb packages is a no-go.

Think I saw a note that this only works with debian 10, and debian 11 is not supported/experimental currently. I have a fresh install that failed once, then I started again and it seemed to almost finish right but errored. I have logs of the whole install, but thought if I shared the errors here maybe it would help future development.
1st run errors:

So.. I did some ip checks and they show up, so I did the restart apache2.. then I tried to run the install script again.. I think it did better the second time.. but it got janky and now I think the server can’t get out to the internet / curl, apt-get and such fails now..

should I just reinstall deb 11 and do something different or should I just wipe it and switch to debian 10 ?

Unable to start my Startup Script

I’m deploying a django app with daphne and nginx in a Ubuntu Server
I follow this two tutorial, mainly the first:- Tutorial 1
- Tutorial 2
Before all, I get working everything in dev mode and expose it through an open port 8000.

Then in my first step I installed redis-server

I created my startup script (following the second tutorial).

Can’t tell. The way thing start is different depending on the release used. There are no more «runlevels» since before 16.04, so that doesn’t make sense.
Inside your scripts, always use the full path to every program, never trust the PATH environment variable.
When I setup Redis, there was more configuration needed than you are showing, but I don’t do python.

Hard to read anything that doesn’t exist. Where did script go? =P
Was trying to K some services out, but I think I wait.
Is it debian, or raspian that has an unstable update-rc? Can’t remember seeing this last line in debian:

If «script» is the name of a real init script, what does it do? Have you installed all the packages associated with doing that thing?
To me, «script» sounds more like a meta-syntactic name for a script. As though you are following instructions that suggested «update-rc.d script defaults», but you were supposed to change the word «script» to the name of the script you wanted.

Forgive me, I think i also needed my cup of coffee this morning. I copied the incorrect portion of my screen.
here is the correct one.

pi@PiScanner /etc/init.d $
It is at startup script for scanbd — http://scanbd.sourceforge.net/ which uses sane and monitors scanner buttons.
The app is installed and I can start it manually.
I get nothing in syslog or message log stating the script was executed.
