I’m getting this error, can’t join all servers. Please help !

edit: im using windows 7 too (ultimate x64, a few days ago i was using Home Premium x64 but today i format my all storages and installed Ultimate x64, who knows i dont know maybe problem is ultimate x64, yeah i know it’s weird. I’m still getting this error. I would like to download and try the Home Premium version, but I don’t have time for that, I also use wifi.)

edit2: He said that someone somewhere changed the MTU (or MRU idk) value of the modem and the problem was solved. But this is a temporary solution because after logging into the server, I logged out again and when I tried to log in again, I saw the 0x00040031 error again. To find the correct MTU value, I ran the following codes on the CMD line as an administrator «netsh interface ipv4 show subinterfaces». I saw that I have 1500 MTU value, but this value appears as 1492 in my modem interface. I don’t know why, but we subtract 1500-28 (I don’t even know what 28 is!). Then we ping the address «ping google.com -f -l 1472» with the result. (1472 is the result we found.) When we do this, we should see a 100% LOSS error. Maybe you won’t be the same. I tried to find a result without packet loss by downloading 1472 number by ten. I caught a successful package in my first 10 issue downloads. We need to do 1464+28 (I really don’t know, they wrote this on a Turkish forum, but it is irrelevant from DayZ. Just a post for MTU change.) And I go back to the 1462 result written on my modem because that was the result.

What I understand from here is 1492 in modem settings, 1500 in Windows settings.

If you are using a wired connection you will need to use the first one, don’t forget to change the mtu value.

If you are using a wireless connection you will need to use the second one, don’t forget to change the mtu value.

After doing these, I restarted my computer, entered the game and the problem was solved, I exited the game and entered again and got the 0x00040031 error again. This may not be a temporary solution, the problem could be caused by something else. But when I saw that a user was typing, I wanted to try it. The final lines of the log, I first tried to log in as the admin user, then as a user and in the end quit the client, I could see the server details under LAN but was told my password was incorrect for the admin user, told nothing for the general user and then I quit the client.

Can you please describe the problems you are experiencing?
So if we understand correctly, the server does run without any issues and you are able to connect, but your admin password is not recognized? Or are there any other problems?

Sorry to take so long, I had to go to work for an hour.

I can see the server name in the client under LAN.
I click on the server and get a password prompt to login.
if I attempt to login as admin by entering the admin password it then returns me back to the LAN window with a message along the lines of «can’t connect my password is incorrect.»
If I then after the admin login attempt, attempt to connect as a user it will ask for a password which I enter and it returns to the lan screen and sits there. unti i click on one of the other tabs and then select back.
I cant select back without clicking on another tab first.

I can send some pictures or possibly a video if it helps.

This might help to this is taken from the .ADM file, my suspicion is that even for PIC games battleye is still trying to check to see if players are on a banlist, obviously on a LAN they won’t be and will be in the whitelist locally. The server part of the equation seems to be quite happily spawning things etc but even as admin I can’t connect to it.

I am presuming that the GUID I was supplied for whitelisting is correct it is.

Hello TheVaultboy.
Logging as administrator is not done through the server browser when first logging in to the server. Therefore if you are entering the admin password when entering the server then that is not going to work.
You need to log in using the password set for the server (password=»bpassword»; Password to connect to the server) (or you can try removing the password completely by leaving it blank since the server is not connected to internet anyway).
To log as admin, you need to be connected to the server, press Enter (to toggle the in game chat) and type #login *password* (use the password you have set up yourself).

Also make sure that Steam is running on the machine that is running the server, as running Steam is required in order for the server to work properly.

O.K I’ll give that a shot in about 10 mins, I’m just getting my little girl ready for bed. I’ll try disabling the user password and just doing a connect from the client and see what happens that way I can elevate the level to admin if I manage to get in, thus far though — neither password has worked in either order, same results as above. Yes Steam is running in offline mode. Just to clarrify things at this point I am actually using my gaming PC running both the DayZ server and the DayZ client as it gets laborious tredding USB drives over to the BBFS. ( Big Boy F**** Server )

No still no go but this time I no longer get a password prompt and it just sits there and eventually says its timed out.

Hello again.
We have tested running a server with the Steam in offline mode and the network adapters being disabled through windows and did not have an issue connecting to the server through lan.
Can you try to disable the whitelist option in configuration?
Also, since you mention you do the server updates manually, can you please describe that process in more detail?

I am not actually using the server at the moment to do this testing I am using my gaming computer itself which is running both the DayZ server and DayZ client, after it’s running successfully here with all networking disabled barring localhost 127.0.0.1, I would copy the root of Program Files (x86)Steam onto USB and copy it to the same location on the server along with any config files from the users area including usersappdatachasselocaldayz I believe it is. But as I said at the moment this isn’t touching the server it’s only on my client machine which is more than powerful enough to handle it.

I disabled the whitelist option and ran the server again, the following is the output from the server log which I copied before closing it when the client timed out trying to connect.

I may have an answer, I am looking into it now, I noted when I started the game that battleye reported the message that it was blocking part of start 10 in the form of a DLL which modifies the Windows 10 Start menu to look like the Windows 7 start menu and according to the battleye site.

Googling the name of the blocked file can help find out what is actually behind it. Sometimes BE might block malware/adware/PUP files, which can cause problems such as being unable to find or connect to servers in-game. We recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for removing such software from your system.
Ensure that you don’t use any tweaked/custom versions of system files (including DirectX). Reinstall DirectX, see the following page for details: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/179113.

I am going to download the game onto my laptop along with the server and attempt to run it there as I don’t have start 10 on my laptop ; if it is the cause I am going to be VERY ANNOYED and yet at the same time relieved that I have an answer.

I then exited shutdown the server, put steam into offline mode, ran the server up again, ran up the client again, found my server in the LAN game section and double clicked on it, it waiting for a long time and then came up with an erro about «Not being able to connect to steam to authenticate user».

So in short you are not telling me the truth when you say you did it at your end. FIX IT.

I can confirm this is an issue if the default gateway is removed, it appears the BattlEye = 0; does NOT turn off Battleye.

With the gateway removed the Server appears to still want to Query Battleye and when it fails kicks the player with the client seeing an unknown error, server just has a BE master could not be resolved. Even in the LAN list it always shows BE Enabled with both BattlEye = 0 and = 1 like the switch does nothing?

Should another command be used to disable BattlEye server side?

Have you just put the Steam into offline mode or have you also disabled the internet prior to the error occurring? also has the error appeared in the server console or in game after being disconnected?
Also, do you disconnect your computer from the internet any other way besides just disabling the network card in Windows?

Test1:
Left everything online, including steam, could connect to the server from the client, I was in game. Exited, closed everything down.

Next I put steam into offline mode and then disabled the internet by disabling the Ethernet port under windows.
I started the server and then after the server had started, I started the client and attempted to connect via the LAN page. That is when I got the error «unable to connect to steam to authenticate user»
Thus the cable was connected but the Ethernet interface was completely disabled when the error occurred.

We have tested this once again to be certain but we still did not have any issues connecting to our server.
The server and client are running on the same computer during our test, the Steam is in offline mode and network adapter is disabled through windows
(Open Settings.
Click on Network & Internet.
Click on Status.
Click the Change Adapter options item.
Right click on the adapter that is connected to the internet
Select Disable).

Did exactly as you said, removed a blank lines from the server config file just to tidy up but that’s it.

In the client when I tried to connect I waited. and it told me I was disconnected due to timeout, no firewalls are running at all.

Cannot connect to any server — Error 0x0004031 (WaitAuthPlayerLoginState)

Since the update on 22.02.2022 I can’t connect to any servers any more — modded, vanilla, low ping, high ping, doesn’t matter. It even happens on LOCALHOST.
Tried reinstalling DayZ after cleaning out all files, tried reinstalling Steam AND dayz, to no avail.
Tried using a mobile internet connection to force a different route.
Called my ISP and had them reset my connection altogether.
Same thing.

The only thing that worked was logging in using a different computer in a different country.

The problem was probably solved by gradually deleting the DayZ, DayZ Launcher and Bohemia_Interactive folders in the AppData folder. I have managed to log in several times to two different servers without an error message. Hopefully it won’t show up again.

Same stuff. Outside of silly tricks there is no way to log in anywhere, especially places with a queue. If its another small update to force changing hardware/software then i’m speechless. I’ve seen multiple topics about that error on steam and reddit. On our server it started happening few days ago and the range of victims only increases over time. How can Bohemia publish broken patches?

The problem with connecting to the game still persists. I brought my Windows 10 laptop from work and on it, logging in is completely seamless. I can get into the game normally on my home network with this laptop. My desktop computer with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit logs into the game about once out of 50 attempts. The problem clearly arose after the micro patch of 22.2. , because until then there were no problems logging into the game from Windows 7. When I compare the logging process from a laptop with Win 10 and a PC with Win 7, on the laptop after the first red bar, a countdown timer pops up, followed by a second red bar and a successful login to the game. On a desktop PC with Win 7, the first red bar runs, then there is a short timeout, the second red bar runs and then just an Error 0x0004031 (WaitAuthPlayerLoginState) message. Obviously the error is somewhere in the loading of the first bar, which either doesn’t load everything it should, or takes too long to load and is terminated by some timeout, resulting in incomplete logging into the game. I completely fail to understand that the only response here to our problem is to ask what connection we have, when it is quite obvious that the connection is not the problem. It seems that support just doesn’t give a damn about us, who suffered this problem after the 22.2 micro patch.

I tried to find a result without packet loss by downloading 1472 number by ten. I caught a successful package in my first 10 issue downloads. What I understand from here is 1492 in modem settings, 1500 in Windows settings.

Hey i got something new solution! Looks like problem is Discord!

I ran Discord as administrator once and tried logging into the servers again and it worked. I left the server and closed the game, I also closed the discord. This time I ran it without admin privilege and tried to login to a server again and was able to login to the server without any problems. I think something got fixed after running Discord as administrator. I will try for a while, for now I can login to the servers without any problems.

I hope this is not a temporary solution ! :)

For me it started with 1.19. Not always, but when it happens it ruins my evening because I can’t enter the server where I want to play. In other servers, often, it doesn’t make the same mistake… it’s a bit random. Even in my local server, when this error starts, I have lost the evening and have to wait for the next day. It is very annoying. Then, for a few days he doesn’t do it anymore and I forget about him, until he reappears again and the evening is lost. It does the same problem even with Discord turned off. Discord isn’t the problem. It looks more like a BE certification problem, because it is at this point that the LogIn crashes, at least in my server.
It’s so random that I couldn’t provide the instructions to replicate it… It happens with the same trivial procedures for connecting to a server and with the same PC, OS, drivers and settings as always… only it had never happened to me before, now … sometimes… it ruins my evening.

If needed I can provide the logs of my server when it works regularly and when the player kicks with this error, to make comparisons. Privately, of course.
