rundll32.exe error
I have gotten my program installed, and are using the appropriate wine friendly patcher, but when I try to run it to update the program (Lord of the Rings Online) I get an error:
rundll32.exe has encountered a serious error… etc etc etc.
Any idea’s of what I should do with this?

Wine Version : 1.3.4
Gah! I didn’t see the little patch thing at the top. It’s hard to be a chronological reader and have to go back up to the top after I’ve been through the whole thing to just get it installed…
Anyway, I got it (supposedly, it’s patching as we speak) and I thank you for your help!

I seriously doubt thats related to the problem at all… does .icns do anything at all but try to make an icon for Macs out of a .lnk?

При обновлении wine или переходе на другую ветку (stable/staging) выдает эту ошибку и крашет старт прог требующих .Net (40, 452, 461)
Нужно использовать именно .Net, так как приложение clickonce и на моно не стартует. Решение проблемы в интернете не нашел, помогает только удаление папки .wine
Может кто знает как решать без удаления папки и повторной настройки?

На самом деле в интернете есть описания как настроить Wine для работы с .net-программулями. Попробуй пройти по этим шагам заново. Быть может до обновления что-то держалось на честном слове и было deprecated и вот при обновлении отъехало, но новые мануалы могут помочь сделать это заново с новой версией, потому что некоторые механизмы в новых Wine требуют новых подходов

Забавно, что типа кросплатформенный дотнет максимально костыльно запускается под вайном. Эти фреймворки никогда нормально не ставились.
Слава индусу, что запилили dotnet core, теперь под линуксом хоть один нормальный язык будет. Сейчас ещё gui допилят с XAML и я выброшу Qt на проприетарную помойку.

Добрый вечер
надо установить программу по автозапчастям, скачал с сайта setup.exe
Установил wine cо всеми настройками как в описании. При попытке запустить этот файл — открывается explorer This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below
Что можно сделать?

запустите из термнала wine ‘путь к файлу’. например: wine ‘/home/чето-там у Вас/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/программа по автозапчастям/файл.exe’. И в терминале уже смотрите вывод.

Еще до вашего поста удалил wine и поставил заново. Теперь установил библитеки и winetricks.
вот результат

сейчас буду разбираться с префиксом

честно сказавши с префиксом не особо разобрался.
Но решил попробовать запустить другой exe файл, скачал тотал командер и все запустилось и установилось без проблем.
Как я понимаю мой setub.exe скаченный с сайта размером 525,8кВ это ней загрузочный файл, а только отсылка к загрузке программы.
Чем можно помочь в этой ситуации?

Есть небольшой прогресс, уже запускается setup.exe, открывается вклад установить приложение. При установке вылазит ошибка
SYSTEM UPDATE REQUARED. Unable to install or run this application. This application requires your system to be updated to Microsoft common Lanuage Runtime version 4.0.30319.0
При работе с winetricks не поставил dotnet 3.0sp1, 3.5+(k),3.5sp1(+k) ,4 +
выдает ошибку error: dotnet30 conflicts with dotnet20sp1, which is already installed.А если поствить сразу dotnet4,0 тогда setup.exe не открывается вообще
сейчас установил dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe, скачаный с нета. Теперь вроде как услоновилась программа и теперь при запуска на секунду появляется заставка программы и пропадает. никаких ошибок не показывает

When iam installing ies4linux iam getting an error when it is installing flash.

I get the same error with ies4linux. I did not get this error with wine 1.0.1, but I do get it with wine 1.1.29 (latest).
After installing latest wine (beta), I also upgraded to the latest ies4linux (2.99.0.1), but I get the same error.
If I close the error dialog, the ies4linux install will complete and ie6 will run. It just doesn’t have flash.
However, I would like to solve this problem too.

I have the same problem. (ies4linux installing flash 9 error rundll32.exe)
Ubuntu: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Wine Version: wine-1.1.42The IE is working, but flash isn’t! And the mouse cursor is invisible when it is in IE window.

i have the same rundll32.exe error when i try to install Silverlight via Wine for Netflix on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
deinstalling Wine & using the recent PPA release for Netflix leads to a blank screen & said error once again!have tried wine 1.4 & 1.5 to no avail!

The thread is old, and Wine might have changed a lot since then. Information here is likely to be obsolete.

On office 2010, it is located in (your wine folder location)/drive_c/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office14/MLCFG32.CPL
you then have to run it using rundll32
EDIT (for Office 2010 on Wine):
This is an attempt to solve the weird problem when you want to setup & Configure manually a Exchange account during related the wizard: It tells you that you cannot do that while outlook is running!
So you have to close outlook and try to make that window appear outside outlook which means «go to the control panel» in a regular windows install.
To simulate a click to the control panel icon, you have to do the following
export WINEPREFIX="/home/$(whoami)/.wineprefixes/office2010/"
export WINEARCH="win32"
(those 2 exports forces wine to execute in 32bits, see the link below)
then (from the c:windows folder)
~/.wine/drive_c/windows$ wine rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL "/home/nadir/.wineprefixes/office2010/drive_c/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office14/MLCFG32.CPL"
«wineprefixes» folder is where I installed office following a good tutorial (Office 2010 fully working on wine) that you can find here : http://nithinaneeshsct06bt.blogspot.fr/2013/02/install-microsoft-office-2010-in-ubuntu.html
You’ll also see why the 2 exports.
Results: the «Email» control panel window appears(!), but…you cannot go further unfortunately.

[SOLVED] Wine stopped working after version 6.19
After an update (still trying to catch which one specifically), wine stopped working. All I get using a fresh winepfx is this output:

0048:err:ole:start_rpcss Failed to open RpcSs serviceSince it’s a bit faster to try, I’m trying the proton-ge builds to find in which version it stops working. For now this error happens between proton-ge build 6.3 and 6.20.
Will update if I can find the exact version where it stops working.
I’ve seen similar errors on system that have two graphics cards but it’s not my case, it happens on both my Lenovo T420 and my desktop with a Ryzen 5 5600 and a Nvidia GTX 960.

Looks like the prefix hasn’t been properly initiated/updated. Check the output carefully on initialization.

I’ve already tried making a new pfx. And still get the same result, for now I went with Wine-6.16 that seems to be working. But I don’t wanna keep stuck with that.

IIRC the last time I’ve seen this there was some integration bug with lib32-gstreamer. Can you try removing that if installed?

I’ve just tried removing it, even tried removing all gstreamer related packages, didn’t help 
.
For now I’m using wine 6.4 that seems to work ok, but I don’t wanna get stuck on this version forever

My wine stop working recently also and none of the wine versions I had cached worked even though they were all working completely fine before. This leads me to believe that something else updated and broke wine somehow as it was working before, im just not sure what it is.
My output when trying any wine command (in this case winecfg):

Ok, compiling from source didn’t help at all.
I’ve just tried all wine versions until it breaks and it seems that from 6.19 (included) it stops working and gives the shown error

I have figured out that if I switch to a new user to use wine it works completely fine. This made me think something in my home directory broke wine completely so I deleted my home directory in frustration and now it works again. This is in no way a fix and I would like to try to figure out how to fix this issue but I no longer have a home directory. I will use another home directory and walk through everything I did to figure out just what exactly broke it. I see the error in deleting my home directory as I won’t be able to solve this issue for others but hopefully this gives a place to start looking.

That could make sense since it happens in both computers that have (most of) my dotfiles synced. I will look into that tho it will be a lot of trial an error

OF COURSE IT HAD TO BE SOME OBSCURE PROBLEM WITH FONTS.
I’m still unable to find the exact problem but, after renaming my fontconfig folder, wine 7.0 it works fine again, I’ll still need to do some research to find a more precise problem (I don’t really wanna kill my whole fontconfig)
mv ~/.config/fontconfig ~/.config/fontconfig_If I rename back the fontconfig folder an run `winecfg` I get:

Re: [SOLVED] Wine stopped working after version 6.19
Welp, it seems it was something related to the files I had on ~/.config/fontconfig/conf.d. Removing all of them fixed it, didn’t really lose functionality so I consider it solved.
