Hi All:
Without the Workstation service starting the computer is almost useless. No
networking, can’t install SpywareDoctor (needs to update itself), Can’t
install Belkin Easy Transfer
Cable for Windows 7 (requires Crypto service which depends on workstation).
Can’t even look at events.
Can’t burn CD’s.
Trying to start the workstation service service gives:
Could not start the Workstation service on Local Computer.
Error 2: The system could not find the file specified
I tried sfc /scannow. It took all afternoon but did not help the issue.
My only recourse to migrate to a new Windows machine is to hang the HDD on
another
machine and burn CD’s there/
Any suggestions would be welcome.

I think this is NetBEUI protocol problem. You should use the following
steps to solve this:
Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-
click Network.
Click the Bindings tab, and then click All Adapters in the Show
Bindings For box.
Click the plus sign next to the second network adapter.
Click NetBEUI Protocol, and then click Disable.
Click Close, and then restart the computer.

Nice thought, but Control Panel has only Network Connections. Network
Cnnections has only My Web Sites on MSN. There are 3 network adapters in
device manager — one NIC, one wireless NIC and 1394 Net Adapter. No
connections.
Any further ideas.

I think this is NetBEUI protocol problem. You should use the following
steps to solve this:
Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-
click Network.

Try reinstalling the Client for Microsoft Networks (on the LAN adapter’s
Properties in Network Connections) if it is shown as installed uninstall
then reinstall it.

I’m not sure if the vpxd .exe Pei command is needed for our state (AD service account and Windows authentication ) or is it only if SQL Authentication is set for the corresponding datasource – does anyone have experience with this change and can they explain it to me?

Yes you are right
but I would probably suggest to stop the services from starting before starting the action, it can go wrong many times with the old password and I would say lock the login into the account
2. After updating the account, make sure that the login account is working properly (updated services work on the specified player account or on a local account?)
If it’s using the specified account, you might need to update and restart the services, I’d say.
3. Make sure answers are running and wait a while until the user account is locked out.

VMware vCenter Server service stops after 1 hour
I have a problem with this vCenter 4.0 server. An hour after the reboot, the VMware VirtualCenter Server service is disabled. When I restart it… It works for about an hour and then shuts down again. The following event is logged in my system event log. The VMware VirtualCenter Server service ended with most errors. Special Service 2 (0x2). , 1 vCPU, 4 GB RAM. Tomcat and SQL use a lot of memory.
This is a task similar to the answers you can find on Google above, but not the real thing. My service shuts down perfectly and efficiently an hour after a restart.
Any ideas?

Hi, I’m trying to share on a Workstation 8 GTR | enable Edit | Settings | When sharing virtual machines, I get a big error when setting up the workstation web server. Check the event log, I noticed that trying to start all VMware Workstation servers, the service does not start (even if you want to start it manually) and the following error is usually logged: “The VMware Service Workstation Server was shut down with error %-1.” by the service manager control Other CzechI didn’t find any.
Works on Windows 7 SP1 x64. The port is 7443.
Also I tried to choose to log there instead of using VMware, but didn’t find anything related, although I may have missed something.

I’ve split Workstation 8.0.1 into two laptops, each running Windows 7 SP1 x64… some VM components are on one but not on the other. On the machine I’m having trouble with, I uninstalled and reinstalled Workstation – to no avail. I ended up replacing the main datastores.xml file again in the directory (C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataVMwarehostd) on the laptop with a problem with the datastores.xml file on the laptop working – success! I found a problem with the file because I was browsing and found that our own datastores.xml file was not open for editing – it was corrupted.
